Ramblings from the Hayes & Beagle libraries!
Since I will be teaching a technology class this year and no longer working in the Media Center, I have decided to close this site.
Please visit my new class site: Almotech

As promised, I said I’d post some links for good summer reading lists! Be sure to visit your public libraries and get signed up for their summer reading programs. The staff at the Delta Township Library and the Grand Ledge District Library are waiting to see you!
And I hope to see you at the celebration for Superintendent Matthews’ Million Page Challenge on August 28th at the football field.
Ms. Nowak’s ELA classes recently created some book spine poems using the titles of library books. Check out our poems in this video. You can pause the video to read the poem more closely! Maybe you’ll want to rearrange your bookshelf after looking at these!

Both of our local libraries are now offering downloadable audiobooks through a company called Overdrive. This is a great service – if you have a computer at home with internet access AND a library card you will have access to hundreds of great titles. There are many eBooks available as well. Once you’ve downloaded the title you can listen on your computer or sync the book to your MP3 player or iPod. Be sure to check the specifics as to which players or eBook readers are compatible with each title.
Any questions, please ask as I’m an avid user of this service. If you’re looking for an MP3 player to use, the SansaClip is an inexpensive player that works really well with this service.

Check out the new software we have on the computers at Hayes & Beagle. Try your hand at creating your own Graphic Novel. Or create a brochure in comic format. We’ve already seen some creative uses of this software in our ELA and Science classes.
To try a free 30-day download at home, visit the Comic Life site.
